Hello and Welcome to our brand new United Methodist Church of Springfield Vermont website! We are thrilled to have you here with us, especially as we enter the Advent season and prepare for the birth of the King of Kings!
This coming Sunday, December 6th is the Feast Day of Saint Nicholas! Please join us as we celebrate this day with the Saint Nicholas Cookie Walk and Festival as well as other FUNdraising activities at the church! Saint Nicholas was an amazing man... "he was legendary for his generosity. When his parents died, Nicholas used his large inheritance to assist the needy. He later became Bishop of Myra. There are many legends about his kindnesses, including the story that a poor widower had three daughters who had no dowries and three times Nicholas threw gold coins into their house, which landed in socks or shoes warming by the fire. Hence our tradition of hanging stockings or giving gifts. Many believe the name Santa Claus comes from St. Nicholas." The Saint Nicholas information came from the Official United Methodist Church website, which can be found here.
